Part 1: Learn & Lead

Thirty high school Sophomores are selected to participate in a nine-month leadership program during their Junior year from August through April, meeting one day each month. Through hands-on experiences and direct interaction with community leaders, students gain a deeper understanding of the community and explore areas including arts & culture, education, government, healthcare, emergency response, economic development, environmental issues, and more.

Part 2: Serve & Connect

After completing the program, students have the opportunity to continue developing their leadership skills during their senior year by serving as a non-voting member of a participating local nonprofit board. Students work alongside community leaders, gain firsthand experience in organizational leadership and decision-making, build valuable professional relationships, and serve in an area that aligns with their interests.

Part 3: Invest in Their Future

Graduating seniors who have completed the program are eligible to apply for the Brent Henley Scholarship Award, providing financial support toward their continued education.

Together, these three components create a leadership pipeline that takes students from learning about their community, to serving within it, to investing in their future—with the ultimate goal of developing young leaders who are prepared and inspired to make a difference right here at home.

Costs associated with the program once accepted:

$200 tuition fee to go towards cost of transportation, meals, and program expenses.

Financial assistance is available to students who qualify.
